The University of Nueva Caceres marching band and majorettes joined the 64th Ocampo Foundation Day Grand Parade, held at the main streets of the poblacion of the town of Ocampo, last August 10, 2013.
The whole day activity started with a thanksgiving mass early in the morning, held at the Ocampo Sports Complex, which also served as the assembly area for all parade participants coming from the 25 different barangays of the town, represented by the Drum and Lyre corps from twenty different public elementary schools located in Ocampo.
The University marching band and majorettes, as music and cultural ambassadors of the University, has been a regular and much anticipated participants in the annual parade, joined also by the majorettes and band of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, located in Pili, Camarines Sur.
There were 61 different delegations that joined the grand parade, led by the Municipal Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan members of the town, including two riders group, the Champ Riders and Roadrunners Riders groups, Barangay officials, marshalls and flag bearers, LGU officials and employees, other institutions like PBBI, ADONAI, Little Blessings Learning Center, Ocampo Evangelical School, a Jollibee mascot and Miss little Ocampo 2013 float, all adding color to the celebration.
The parade ended where it began, at the Ocampo covered court/Sports complex, where the UNC Band and Majorettes put up a brief but much awaited exhibition, followed by the CBSUA contingent, to the delight of the thousands of people that jam packed the exhibition area. It was followed by the different DLC and majorettes from most of the participating school delegations, under the watchful eye of the newly elected lady mayor of the town, Mayor Corazon M. Olos and other officials, from their vantage point on stage.
The Grand Parade of August 10, 2013, is only one of the many activities in the month long celebration that started on August 1 with a tree planting activity, and culminating with the Tinagba Festival on August 18 and the People’s Night “Baraylehan kan mga Ocampoanons” at 8:00 in the evening at the Ocampo Sports and Cultural Complex.
The Grand Parade was ably organized by Engr. Dante Marpuri, a UNC alumnus, who is currently serving as the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Department Head of Ocampo and chairman of the Committee on Parade.
