Delegates from Ahmad Dahlan University (ADU) headed by Mr. Rai Rake Setyawan, Chairman of Center of Development for Economics and Faculty of Economics visited the University of Nueva Caceres on January 9 to 11, 2014. The three other Indonesian guests accompanying Mr. Setyawan were: Mrs. Salamatun Asakdiyah, Dean of Business and Accountancy, Mrs. Khusnul Hidayah, Faculty, School of Accounting, and Mr. Hendro Setyono, Faculty, School of Management.
The visit is among the general agreements covered in the MOU between UNC and ADU since 2010. This three-day activity was organized by Dean Nora Elizabeth F. Maniquiz of the College of Business and Accountancy, and Dean Josephine B. Alba of the College of Arts and Sciences.
On day one, a welcome program was held at the UNC Conference room where Dr. Lourdes S. Anonas, EVP and VPAA, met the guests. Then, the tour around Naga City and Camarines Sur followed. They visited CWC Sports Complex in Pili and J. Emanuel’s Pastries in Canaman.
On the second day, the Indonesian delegates attended the academic colloquium at Villa Caceres Hotel where they joined the deans and faculty members of Colleges of Business and Accountancy, and Arts and Sciences of the different schools in the Bicol Region. The Indonesian team leader, Mr. Rai Rake Setyawan was a resource speaker in the technical session with the topic “Corporate Social Responsibility with Local Governments in Indonesia: Ahmad Dahlan University Experience”.
On the third day, an academic colloquium with UNC students and faculty,a research meeting with CBA faculty and a cultural presentation were conducted.
The academic colloquium was held at IMC from 8:00 -12:00 in the morning. Faculty and students of both sponsoring departments participated in this activity. The Indonesian guests shared their insights on the different topics. Mrs. Khusnul Hidayah talked about “Women Empowerment in Indonesia”, Mr. Hendro Setyono shared the Student Development Program of ADU, Mrs. Salamatun Asakdiyah discussed her research on “Word of Mouth Marketing Strategy of the Supermarkets in Indonesia”, and Mr. Rai Rake Setyawan oriented the participants about their school, the ADU and its program for foreign students.
The second part of this activity was a seminar on “Social Responsibility, Environmental and Organizational Sustainability” and the resource speaker was Mr. Ryan Whisnant, Principal, Coalescent Services.
In the afternoon, a meeting about joint research endeavors between UNC and ADU, in particular with the College of Business and Accountancy headed by Dean Maniquiz, was held at the CPA review room. The CBA faculty members who participated in the meeting were: Ms. Cerila Sanchez, Dr. Maria Sharon Reyes, Ms. Frances Pasibe, Ms. Gloria Labuanan, Mr. Salvador Arcilla, Jr., and Atty. Kristoffer Gil Balbastre.
For the culminating activity, a Cultural Show was held at 4:00 pm at the Students Pavilion. An alumna of College of Education, Ms. Maria Martha Joy A. Claveria, the UNC Theater Guild, and the CBA Modern Dance Troupe showcased Filipino and Bicolano talents through songs and dances. A surprise number was given by the Indonesian guests in the form of a poem, songs and a welcome dance.
