Evident with the on-going construction of the E-Library and the multi-purpose Covered Courts, the Vice-President for Administration (VPA), Dr. Eduardo H. Sison, revealed various programs and plans for the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) in the next five years. VPA further said that these innovations are for the improvement of the academic performance and total physical development of the UNC students.
The E-Library boasts to be the first in the Bicol region which started its construction last May and soon about to be finished early of 2014. The facility offers a wider and more sophisticaed research hub for both the students and the faculty.
“UNC needs to be competitive. There are many schools now. Otherwise, they will go to our competitors. So, one of the things is to offer something that others don’t have,” Dr. Sison said. The University Covered Courts were simultaneously constructed with the remodeling of the E-Library. Dec. 28, 2013 marks the inauguartaion of the
covered courts. Moreover, one of the most significant disclosures of VPA during the interview of the Trailblazer staff was the sports program and other plans for the UNC. Dr. Sison reveals further that UNC has tied partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
“Before, we have national champions in tennis, basketball, and volleyball. We even have Olympics. This program is coordinated with the PSC so we can produce competitive sports athetes,” VPA further explained.
On the other hand, Dr. Sison declares that other than the sports program for the university, a branch is soon to be operational in Bataan and another campus in Alabang which will be the first sports school in the Philippines.
When asked if how does he see UNC five from now, VPA said, “What we expect are for the students to be
leaders because that’s what parents expect not only for their child to graduate, but also to have jobs, that is our responsibility. (Gabrielle D. Fullante)
