NAGA CITY—The Bicol Region contingent has garnered 7 medals in the 2014 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, according to the latest report received by BICOL STANDARD.
Among these are 4 gold medals and three silvers. Leading the games is Region VI, which has 29 medals: 6 golds, 10 silvers, and 13 bronzes.
Meanwhile, Region IV-A has 28 medals: 10 golds, 7 silvers, and 11 bronzes.
Region VII has 17 medals, with 11 golds, 5 silvers and 1 bronze.
Right behind Bicol is CAR with 6 medals, with 1 gold, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes; while Region XII has 3 medals, 1 gold and 2 silvers.
The PRISAA is an annual sports competition where the country’s top student-athletes slug it out in 18 events.
Among these events are baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, football, sepak takraw, softball and volleyball, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sports, judo, karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo.
Previously, only college students competed in the PRISAA. However, this year, competitions for secondary students were opened.—BICOLSTANDARD.COM
