As in the preceeding years, another UNCean made it as one of the five regional winners in the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) Region V for 2014. Ian Arbil D. Gallarte, A BSBA Marketing graduate, was adjudged winner in the regional selection of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines for Region V. The Interview and Awarding was held at Legazpi City last May 14, 2014.
Mr. Gallarte is actively involved in the Social Entrepreneurship progam of the College of Business and Accountancy. He is the project coordinator of Sta. Rafaela V. 2.0. where he pioneered the CBA Internship Program at Sta. Rafaela Cooperative, Sabang, Naga City. The internship program provides experiential learning to CBA students by exposing them to real business scenario and at the same time gives additional manpower to the production department of the cooperative. He was also the governor of the CBA college board and an active officer of the Junior Trainers Circle-UNC Chapter. He was a recipient of the University Leadership Award. He was a delegate to the 15th Ayala Young Leaders Congress and was recently awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of Bicol for 2014 sponsored by AKO Bicol Party List.
The Search for Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines is an annual recognition of graduating college students who have not only excelled academically, but have also dedicated their talents and leadership abilities in making a difference by becoming socially involved in their respective communities, organizations and fields of interests for the greater good of their respective communities.
The annual search is sponsored by the RFM Foundation in collaboration with RFM Corporation, Commission on Higher Education, National Bookstore Inc., and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company. (AAFullante)
