Board Chairman Felicito “Tom” Payumo, of the UNC Board of Trustees, together with Dr. Lourdes S. Anonas, Executive Vice President, Dr. Eduardo H. Sison, Vice President for Administration, Mr. Jesus J. Hernandez, Vice President for Student and External Affairs and other Administration officials of the University of Nueva Caceres will lead the university community in the ceremonial groundbreaking for the new open covered court, to be constructed in front of the High School building, on Thursday, July 11, 2013, in commemoration of the Founders Day.
The design of the structure placed major consideration for the aesthetics of the place. With the covered court’s open air design, one is provided an unobstructed view of the entire campus from ground level. Movable bleachers will mean that the size of the entire playing area can be adjusted according to the games that will be played and the size of the participating delegation or audience for the occasion.
Dr. Eduardo H. Sison, VP for Administration, has intimated that the new project is but one of several innovations being undertaken by the school to further upgrade its service capability in making the students of the university become more competitive. The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee has recently granted the University of Nueva Caceres, accreditation for its sports program, setting the stage for UNC students with the necessary skill and interest to further hone their talents and skills under the watchful eye of professional coaches and trainers, with an eye for producing national caliber athletes and prospective Olympians.
The University Sports Palace, the major activity center for the university, will continue to host ball games, and other indoor sports, with its high caliber facilities, able to accommodate an audience of four thousand or more spectators.
Mr. Jimmy Sison, member of the board of trustees and head of the Sports development Program of the University, is actively engaged in a program upgrading the support facilities of the building, particularly, the audio visual and lighting installations currently being utilized for the Sports Palace, hoping to further update and upgrade the capability of the existing equipment installed thereat.
The new covered court at the spacious grounds of the university, will serve as an alternative playing field and venue for other programs and activities of the school, the better to serve its stakeholders. There are also plans to incorporate a plug-and-play configuration, for the new covered court, as an added feature for the building.
