Celebrating the Library and Information Services Month and National Book Week with the theme “Libraries: Effects on Society” the UNC Main Library sponsored activities aimed at encouraging love for reading last November 27-30, 2012. Among the many activities were contests where winners received gifts and certificates: essay writing; poem writing; trivia challenge; tongue twister challenge; and Believe-It-or-Not exhibit. Educational films were also shown.
Recognition of Top Library Users was announced; winners received gifts and certificate of recognition. The list included: Jenica Aira Verin BEED-2, Dan Jeric Valdez BSA-3, and Jo Ann Breis AB Lit-4. Meanwhile, the following won in the different activities: Joyce DC Apin BSA-3 First Place for Essay Writing; Jo Ann A. Breis AB Lit-4 Second Place and John Rey M. Canon AB Lit-2 Third Place. Winners for poem writing are: Charmaine Badiola BSA-2 First Place, Asther Villareal BSA-2 Second Place and Boris Victor M. Espinili BEED-2 Third Place.
