The University of Nueva Caceres, through its “UNC Adopts VGES” project, donated five computer units to Villa Grande Elementary School (VGES), Concepcion Grande, Naga City. The computers were successfully installed last September 23, 2011. The project was made possible by the Computer Laboratory Department and College of Computer Studies.
In the Memorandum of Agreement made and entered into by the Department of Education-Naga City, University of Nueva Caceres and the Villa Grande Elementary School in August 24, 2011, the donor school, University of Nueva Caceres, shall consider Villa Grande Elementary School as priority beneficiary of donation of computers and other learning materials and shall provide training that will capacitate the teachers with the basic technical know-how in the use of computers in teaching. In return, the beneficiary school, Villa Grande Elementary School, shall shoulder the responsibility of accepting and taking care of computer units and shall provide feedbacks to and assists teachers toward teaching using ICT. Meanwhile the Department of Education-Naga City shall assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the program.
The computer donation project of the University of Nueva Caceres is a part of the implementation of R.A. 8525, An Act Establishing the Adopt-A-School Program, which encourages private companies in the delivery if better quality education to public schools in the country, particularly in poverty-stricken areas.
