Bombase adjudged Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines 2011
The University of Nueva Caceres does it again. The University has produced another student awardee in the prestigious Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines. Ma. Clarissa Lavena A. Bombase, an A. B. Political Science student, was adjudged one of the ten Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines for 2011. Ms. Bombase received a medal, trophy and a cash prize of Php 5,000.00. The Awarding Ceremony was held last December 30, 2011 at the Knights of Rizal International Headquarters, Port Area, Manila.
Ms. Bombase is the current president of the University Student Government, an academic scholar and a student debater. She is the founder of the UNC Debate Society and is actively involved in school and community activities.
Aside from Ms. Bombase, three other UNCeans received the same award in the past. They are Monica A. Tordilla (1988); Butch O. Saulon (2004); and Ronnel Joseph T. Competente (2009). Incidentally, all three are graduates of the College of Education.
The Search for Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines gives due recognition to outstanding college students of the Philippines who best epitomize the Rizalian qualities of academic excellence and leadership in campus and community activities and the Rizalian virtue of love of country, thereby serving as living models to the youth of the land.
The Search is sponsored by the Order of the Knights of Rizal, a non-political, non-sectarian organization created by law to propagate Rizalian ideals and teachings throughout the country. (AAFullante)
