Graduate School History and Its Responsiveness

The School of Graduate Studies, as a department was created in 1953, five years after the foundation of the University of Nueva Caceres in 1948. Called the Graduate Department for Education, it was primarily created to meet the needs of teachers who wanted to acquire advanced skills and competencies in teaching. Necessarily, the course offerings under its programs were those in the filed of education.

Responsive as always to the needs of clientele, the Graduate School has expanded its programs both in the master’s and doctorate levels along the fields of management, business administration, public administration, environmental science, library science and in the languages, with emphasis on research. These programs contain provisions for the acquisition of skills or trainings for the various professions, development of critical thinking and analytical perspectives.

Cognizant of the role of graduate education in the new millennium, characterized as the century of man-made competitive advantage, the institution is geared towards academic excellence. For its programs to make a difference, the department looks forward to be innovative and entrepreneurial, doing the best in all areas of undertakings. Aware of its external environment and its external capabilities, particularly its core values upon which department has been founded.
