School of Graduate Studies

The School of Graduate Studies of the University of Nueva Caceres has been an active participant in numerous scholarly and academic pursuits.  Its curriculum is enhanced and updated to respond to local, national and global trends.  Its research program is aimed at seeking solutions to problems that the school and its community face.  This is in keeping with the school's commitment to discover more knowledge, to face new challenges and to develop with integrity, commitment and steadfast dedication.

The school is also cognizant of the uninterrupted upsurge of technology; hence, it has immersed itself in the mainstream of cyber future.  This will help accelerate the development of the country and create better future for the next generation.

Graduate School History and Its Responsiveness

The School of Graduate Studies, as a department was created in 1953, five years after the foundation of the University of Nueva Caceres in 1948. Called the Graduate Department for Education, it was primarily created to meet the needs of teachers who wanted to acquire advanced skills and competencies in teaching. Necessarily, the course offerings under its programs were those in the filed of education.

Responsive as always to the needs of clientele, the Graduate School has expanded its programs both in the master’s and doctorate levels along the fields of management, business administration, public administration, environmental science, library science and in the languages, with emphasis on research. These programs contain provisions for the acquisition of skills or trainings for the various professions, development of critical thinking and analytical perspectives.

Cognizant of the role of graduate education in the new millennium, characterized as the century of man-made competitive advantage, the institution is geared towards academic excellence. For its programs to make a difference, the department looks forward to be innovative and entrepreneurial, doing the best in all areas of undertakings. Aware of its external environment and its external capabilities, particularly its core values upon which department has been founded.

 

 


Mission Statement of the University

The Mission of the University of Nueva Caceres is clearly stated in its motto. It is dedicated to the pursuit of Truth, Wisdom and Knowledge for the service of God, Country and Humanity. To achieve this end, it strives to produce graduates with fully integrated personalities through a broad liberal education combined with adequate training for professional competence. It aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the Filipino, with special emphasis on the Bicolano, thus developing national dignity and identity. It seeks to instill in its students a high sense of personal discipline and civic responsibility.

The University is engaged in the unending search for excellence in all spheres of educational endeavor. By pursuing its objectives, it hopes to help provide the responsible leadership needed for regional and national development.

The University of Nueva Caceres is dedicated to the pursuit of Truth, Wisdom and Knowledge for the service of God, country and humanity.

It believes that the quest for these ideals is the very purpose of man, who was made distinct by his gift of reason and capacity for restless inquiry.

It believes that the pursuit of these ideals when made in the spirit of service is among the noblest undertaking in life.

The School Motto is: “Non Scholae Sed Vitae” (Not of School But of Life).


General Objectives


1.    To imbue students with the highest ideas of life.

2.    To help them to develop as free men ; and

3.    Top prepare them for responsible citizenship, for enlightened leadership in the arts, sciences and profession as they meet the demands of global competitiveness.


Specific Objectives

  1. To contribute to contribute to the extension of human knowledge through research and technology having always in mind the developmental goals of the community and the nation;
  2. To foster among its students an abiding desire to serve to their community and nation as it trains them foe leadership;
  3. To stress the worth of  moral and spiritual values as guides for personal action and foundations  of national greatness and
  4. To acquaint the student with the toil achievements of the past, guide them in appreciating the need to preserve human culture and civilization, and make them conscious of their obligation to the future.

The school of graduate studies commits itself to pursue relevant and appropriate academic programs and researches for global response as well as extension services for the development of competent and ethical professionals who will provide meaningful leadership. 


General Goal


The School of Graduate Studies aims to develop high caliber students fully equipped for leadership functions and productive work in disciplines of Teacher Education; Language and Special Education; Educational and Behavioral Management; Business and Public Administration; Environmental, Physical and Library Sciences.


Specific Objectives


  1. To produce empowered individuals who are effective instruments of inquiry and change.
  2. To broaden one’s role in the conservation or preservation, development or enrichment and transmission of our natural resources and national legacies;
  3. To sharpen knowledge and strengthen appreciation of our historical, literary and cultural heritage, thus clarify and enhance national unity through diversities;
  4. To upgrade personal and professional competence for global competitiveness in teaching, management, administration or governance of various types of organizations; and
  5. To evolve a research culture attuned to the development goals of the region and the country through faculty and students equipped with research capabilities and skilled in the use of technology and to enhance the production/publication of scholarly and globally competitive researches.

 

 


Specific Program Objectives


Master of Arts in Education, Major in Educational Management


To produce model educational managers who are involved learners, effective communicators and authentic, committed and reflective professionals.

Master of Arts inn Education, Major in Guidance and Counseling


To produce guidance workers who are committed formators and effective communicators who can respond accurately to client from different background.

Master of Arts in Education, major in Special Education

To program aims to provide a serious and stable foundation upon which teachers, parents and administrators can effectively prepare themselves for responsible roles as stakeholders in the education for children with special needs.


Master in Business Administration (with thesis)

To program specially aims to develop high caliber professionals with business management and entrepreneurial skills and competencies that would empower them towards greater competitiveness locally and globally.

Master in Business Administration (without thesis)

To develop business skills, foresights and innovativeness among students and graduates that would establish, develop and sustain their own business organizations.


Master in Management

To develop among the students and graduate the skills and competencies in all aspects and functions of management in any type of organization whether it be in business, government, non government, civic, religious, or any other form.

Master in Public Administration

To produce competent professionals, committed and effective public servants who   can be model public administrators.

Master if Arts in English

To engender efficient communicators and critical thinkers who can spawn a culture of excellence in their professions.

Master of Arts in Filipino

Malinang ang linggwistikang kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral sa wika tungo sa pansariling kabatiran sa panulat at pakikipagtalastasan, gayundin mapaunlad ang pagkatuto sa literatura ng sariling bansa at ng ibang bansa upang makaangkop sa global na pangangailangan.

Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics

To produce competent, efficient and innovative Mathematics teachers and researches in all educational levels who will contribute to the upliftment of mathematics education in the region and in the nation.
