UNC-CBA hosts 1st ACPAE-Bicol Regional Conference

The University of Nueva Caceres, College of Business and Accountancy, headed by Dean Nora Elizabeth F. Maniquiz, hosted the 1st Bicol Regional Conference of the Association of CPA’s in Educati9on (ACPAE).

Said event was held at the Instructional Media Center (IMC) on January 30-31, 2009, and was participated in by the accounting faculty members and deans of the various universities and colleges in the region, namely UNC, Ateneo de Naga University, Brentwood International School, University of Saint Anthony, Regina Mondi College, Partido State University, Camarines Norte State College, Divine Word College of Legaspi, Sorsogon State College, and Saint Louise de Marillac College of Sorsogon.
The participants were given updates n the accounting education, particularly about the new course being introduced, the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology, which accounting schools have the opportunity to offer. Aside form this, they likewise attended four technical sessions related to accounting education during the two-day conference , that included among others, “Updates on Recent BIR Rulings”, given by Mr. Omar Erasmo Ampongan, Review Director of ARTS Review Center; “Revisiting Selected IFRS”, given by Dean Nora Elizabeth Maniquiz, president of the Council of Deans for Business and Accountancy; “Auditing in and IT Environment (CAATS)”, with resource speaker jade Biones, a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of UNC-CBA, and 12th placer in the October 2004 CPA Board Examination; and the topic “Information Systems”, given by Karen de los Santos, CPA, CISA, faculty member of the Ateneo de Naga University.
The keynote speaker foe the said event was Mr. Achimedes Ibay, the national President of ACPAE, who spoke about the theme, “Building Capacity and Competency in Accounting Education”.
