Ronnel Joseph T. Competente, a fourth year Bachelor of Science in Education student, won the Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines for the Rizalian year 2009. Mr. Competente is among the ten (10) outstanding students who won the award with cash prize of Php. 5,000.00, a medal and a trophy given during the Awarding Ceremony held at the Ceremonial Hall, International Headquarters, Knights of Rizal Building, Bonifacio Drive, port Area, Manila, today, December 11, 2009.
The Search for Rizal Model Students of the Philippines gives due recognition to the ten outstanding college students of the Philippines who best epitomize the Rizalian qualities of academic excellence and leadership in campus and community activities and the Rizalian virtue of love of country, thereby, serving as living models to the youth of the land.
Mr. Competente is currently the president of the Federation of Student Organizations and Society of Junior Fellows. He is also the City Youth
Vice Mayor of Naga City and an active youth community leader of Balatas, Naga City. He was the former governor of the College Board. He is a consistent academic scholar of the University.
