On July 11,1984, Dr. Dolores H. Sison, the University President affixed her signature and her approval to a proposed organizational structure defining the working relationships amongst various operating departments, colleges and other offices within the corporate structure identified as the University of Nueva Caceres.
Immediately below the office of the President is the Executive Vice President, and directly under the office are the four Vice-Presidents, namely Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Vice-President for Finance, Vice-President for Administration and Vice-President for Student and External Affairs.
Reporting directly to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs are the six different academic departments consisting of Graduate School, College of Law, Commerce, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Education and the High School Department. The various support departments within this set up include Research and Development, Guidance, Library, Museum, Instructional Media Center, Social Arts, PE and CMT and the University Registrar.
Twenty five years after this organizational chart was approved and implemented, several changes and upgrading of the organization have taken place, but the Instructional Media Center retained its identity and function as a Special Service Department of the University. The office, survived the changes that have taken place, retained its distinct identity and adapted to recent developments with respect to services and working relationship with other offices and other operating units inside the institution.
The school administration, through the Vice President for Administration, Mr. Jaime Hernandez Jr. saw fit to enlarge the operational scope of the Instructional Media Center not only as a service department supporting academic instruction but likewise, empower it to provide other forms of support services for all non academic activities inside and outside the University. This move, was a direct answer to a perceived need to have an operating unit inside the school providing fast and dependable service to the students, faculty and employees of the University.
All of these innovations took place during the last decade when its current chief of office assumed control and supervision of the Instructional Media Center from July 1, 1998 till the present. Under his management, many changes were introduced, such as:
- Personnel Assignment detailing specific areas of service and responsibility to maximize operational capability.
- Institutionalizing the establishment and collection of a separate IMC fee as fund source for the office.
- Annual upgrading of equipment for various applications.
- Expansion of areas of operational control and responsibility.
- Production of the very first office Operations Manual inside the University.
Notwithstanding such accomplishments, the office is proud to be able to claim that it has built a reputation for service efficiency and earning recognition as the Most Student Friendly office of the University. All of our efforts for the past ten years including the innovations and improvements initiated would be best summed up by “THE THREE MANDATES OF THE IMC”.
