“Project Oragon” (Philippines)
ORAGON is a Filipino Bicolano term for excellence in any undertaking. The word serves as the motivation of the group to transform youth to become a humane, dynamic and progressive individual thus making a better society.
John Paul Louie L. Abe had proven that UNC can make it in international competition. He brought UNC to #1 in the Philippines and in Asia with his "Project Oragon", a 3 – in – 1 community extension program that focuses on livelihood, literacy, and art for the students and the parents of San Francisco Elementary School in Tarosanan, Camaligan, Camarines Sur. More than 100 videos and document entries worldwide were reviewed by the executive screening committee of AYIMUN. Panel interview was conducted also wherein UNC ranked 3rd that made it qualify for the final round.
With his leadership, Project Oragon was awarded as Grand Winner and Best CSR, in the AYIMUN for the World - Corporate Social Responsibility Contest, held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia last August 27, 2019. Other winners in the final round are Water for Migamiya, 2nd, from Nigeria; Hope for Stunting, 3rd, from Indonesia; Children's Home Refurbishment, 4th, from Sri Lanka; and Literacy Opportunity, 5th, from Zamboanga, Philippines.
